Sustainable Technology and Innovation: Opportunities and Challenges
Background & Rationale
The word “sustainability” has gained popularity as a major talking point in the past decade. It encompasses wide-ranging themes from energy conservation, waste management, pollution control, natural disasters, global warming, biodiversity loss, cultural heritage and still many others. The issue of sustainability has emerged as a central theme in various discussion forums, being a pressing matter to deal with rapid consumption and degradation of earth resources as we witness today. The threat of living in an era with resource scarcity is clear and imminent if we continue depleting our resources in such a way that results in irreversible impacts. Actions must be taken to safeguard our planet from entering a grim future.
To address issues and challenges highlighted above, Faculty of Engineering - Universitas Surabaya, in collaboration with Suranaree University of Technology, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Solar Energy Research Center - Dalarna University, and University of Wollongong, will jointly host an international conference titled “International Conference on Informatics, Technology and Engineering 2017 (InCITE 2017)” in Bali, Indonesia, 24-25 August 2017. The conference theme is “Sustainable Technology and Innovation: Opportunities and Challenges” and we invite academia and business practitioners all around the globe to share ideas and best practices aimed at creating and promoting technology and innovation as a response to global sustainability issues. We hope that this event can also serve as a platform of gathering for anyone interested in exploring potential solutions of our common problems today.
